TELOS: The future of the book in the digital era

The rapid deployment, in Spain as well as internationally, of all kinds of smart devices such as tablets, touch phones, phablets, and so forth is transforming the habits in the access to culture, information and leisure of many people.

In this context of accelerated change, many of us who have made a profession of the world of books are wondering what that world will be like in the 21st century. Does it still make sense to have bookstores and libraries of physical books in the digital age? Will text still be the main resource for telling a story? What other formats (audio, video, images, and so on) will be used for this purpose? Given the growing rise of self-publishing, what is the added value of a publishing house in this new world?

In the context of this transformation, TELOS Magazine wants to incentivize the research and analysis of the multiple opportunities that the Internet and digital media are offering to the world of books, and thus encourage publishers, bookstores, libraries, etc., to better understand and deal with the digital era we all have to live in.
