Capitol Hill Library opens whole world to community

Carlos Garcia was in search of a GED study book, but he needed one in Spanish. "Oh, this is English," said Garcia, before walking two aisles over to find the Spanish-language section at the new Capitol Hill Library.

"I need it in Spanish, that's why I'm here." Less than a week since reopening, the new library in south Oklahoma City was filled with teenagers on computers, parents reading to their children and others lounging in comfy chairs by large floor-to-ceiling windows. The 9,400-square-foot library is not only the newest in the Metropolitan Library System, it is also home to the system's largest collection of Spanish-language books and resources.
