Mejor no contarlo is the first novel written by journalist María Luisa García-Franco, which earned her a finalist spot in the 17th Fernando Lara Prize, an award given annually in Spain to unpublished novels in the Spanish language. After more than twenty years as a correspondent for the newspaper ABC in the Basque Country, María Luisa García-Franco draws on the professional experience gained during the difficult years she lived in the Basque Country when the terrorist group ETA devastated Basque society with continuous attacks, to write a novel based on true events. In addition to working for ABC, María Luisa García-Franco has also collaborated with other media outlets, such as RTVE, EITB, La Razón, La Gaceta, and La Ley. The novel "Mejor no contarlo" was published by Larrrad Ediciones, a publishing house focused on the value of authors who leave their mark by telling each story. We were able to read it thanks to Masa Crítica (Critical Mass) from Babelio.

Mejor no contarlo is set in Bilbao in 2001, when a list of eighty judges named as potential targets of the terrorist group appeared in the hands of ETA's Buruntza command. Given this circumstance, which is primarily based on three fictional characters, the protagonist of this novel could be none other than Isabel Robledo, a judge at the Vizcaya Court of Appeals.

The terrorist threat erupts into Isabel Robledo's daily life when she discovers one morning that someone is following her. Isabel, like most of her classmates, completely unprotected by state police forces, chose, as a safety measure, to avoid sharing her concerns with those around her and to change her habits.
