This is a very enjoyable and entertaining read that I enjoyed, even though I finished it in two sittings. It's "El otro yo" by Rafael Caunedo, published by Destino. I hadn't read anything by the author until now, but due to his visit to my book club this October, I had the opportunity to read it, and it's clear that he's now on the list of authors I'll be following closely.

It all begins with the diagnosis of advanced Alzheimer's disease in the prestigious writer Ángel Cué. At that moment, he decides to retire from public life, but before doing so, he leaves his only son a very valuable legacy: the safekeeping of five manuscripts so they can be published when he becomes unable to recognize anyone. From that moment on, Mateo's life changes radically, and he finds himself entangled in a pyramid of lies and deceit from which it becomes increasingly difficult for him to escape unscathed. How far would you be willing to go to keep your reputation clean?

As I've already mentioned, it's a fast-paced novel, easy to read, and fairly quick because it becomes one of those plots that grabs you from the start. Everything surrounding Mateo's life becomes a mountain of lies and frauds that leaves readers eager to know how he'll be able to get out of everything that's been building up in his life.
