Crónica de una muerte anunciada is an incredible novel by Gabriel García Márquez, published in 1981 in Spanish. It's quite short, only 156 pages, and was released by La Oveja Negra. The work is set in Colombia and tells the story of Santiago Nasar, a man with his own customs but, within reason, very normal. From the beginning, he tells how his death came to pass, a death that almost no one could explain because everyone in town knew it, except him.
The charisma acquired by the characters, of which there are quite a few, is admirable. To highlight a few, I would mention Santiago Nasar: the protagonist who is murdered without knowing anything until the last moment; The Vicario twins: Santiago's assassins with incredible action; and Flora Miguel, the protagonist's beloved, deeply affected by his death.
