Short biography
Josefina Aldecoa (1926-2011) was born in La Robla, León. She studied Philosophy and Literature in Madrid. During her college years, she met a group of friends who would later become part of the so-called "generation of the fifties": Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio, Jesús Fernández Santos, Alfonso Sastre, Carmen Martín Gaite, and Ignacio Aldecoa, whom she married in 1952. Her husband died in 1969, and she remained distant from literature for ten years, until her critical edition of a selection of Ignacio Aldecoa's stories appeared in 1981.
