Chronicle of a Death Foretold is an incredible novel by Gabriel García Márquez, published in 1981 in Spanish. It's quite short, only 156 pages, and was released by La Oveja Negra. The work is set in Colombia and tells the story of Santiago Nasar, a man with his own customs, but within reason, very normal. From the beginning, he tells the story of his death, a death that almost no one could explain because everyone in town knew it, except him. The charisma of the characters, of which there are quite a few, is admirable.

To highlight a few, I would mention Santiago Nasar: the protagonist, who is murdered without knowing anything until the last moment; the Vicario twins: Santiago's assassins, who perform an incredible act; and Flora Miguel, the protagonist's beloved, who is deeply affected by his death.

One element of the work that I love is the characters' dialogue, which is completely colloquial and adapted to their character.
