This volume includes two short novels, the first of which, El Sur, was the source of the script for the film of the same name directed by Víctor Erice. Both this story and the one told in Bene are characterized by their narrative magnetism, based on Adelaida García Morales's special ability to surround certain male characters with an aura of mystery, around whose absence she weaves each of the narratives.
Physical absence but the presence of a shadow, yearned for in one case, ominous in the other, whose weight is doubly felt due to its phantasmagoric reality.
Moving into a territory that borders on the abysses of incest and evil, viewed from the amoral purity of adolescence, these two stories take the reader into regions rarely explored in our literature and place their author in a prominent position.
