The story is about Lucho and his family having to abruptly leave Chile during the Pinochet dictatorship. The family immigrates to Germany upon learning that the father has been placed on “The List”. Lucho, like so many other children of families who immigrate, has to quickly adapt to the German way to help his parents. Things are not easy for Lucho either. He has a bit of a rough time with the language, culture, and even the weather. Adapting takes time and problems arise during the acculturation process but Lucho ingeniously overcomes these and matures through the process.
