This book of memoirs in novel form, deals principally with childhood and touches upon adolescence. Millás offers us his own very particular vision of the events of his childhood in a luminous, expansive, and Mediterranean Valencia, contrasted with Madrid, rather with a street in Madrid, where everything is colder and grayer, although still full of surprises. Through Millás' gaze, his own family, the neighbors, friends, and the lost parade with humor and bitterness through that private universe that becomes his street. For those encountering the work of Juan José Millás for the first time, this work could be a good starting point for understanding the world, the characters, and the phobias which populate his novels and articles. Its as if the author has lain on the psychoanalyst's couch, and through the course of 233 pages, emptied (and that is one of the novel's strengths) the contents of his mind. This novel gained the author the Planeta Prize of 2007.
