King Henry IV of Castile, called the Impotent, needs help to ensure that his lineage will keep the throne. To accomplish this, he sends one of his best knights, Juan de Olid, in search of a unicorn’s horn, in the hope that the horn’s aphrodisiac effects will help the monarch with his task. The knight departs for the heart of Africa in search of the mythical animal accompanied by a small and unique contingent which include a friar and a virgin girl, who, according to legend, must be offered in order to attract the elusive animal.
