Author, Journalist. He was born in Cádiz, Andalucia, Spain. He developed a prolific career as journalist for the newspaper "El País" from his foundation. Also, he worked for "Le Monde" and "Diario de Málaga."
After studying political science and journalism, he worked at different publications including Diario de Cádiz, Informaciones and Le Monde. But his professional career was inextricably linked to Spain’s largest-circulation daily El País, which he joined in 1976.
His first novel, Adosados, was a finalist for the Nadal Prize in 1995 and later he won the Ateneo de Sevilla Prize for Un hombre de provecho.
Bayón died one month after the publication of his last book, De un mal golpe, a crime novel set in Marbella.
