The 'Cortázar Year' begins; 40 years after the death of the writer of chance and mystery

Realistic, experimental, fantastic, playful and loved by young readers of all ages, the author of 'Rayuela' will be, starting today, at the center of festivals, tributes, film and reading series, literary walks and much more.

Forty years after the death of “one of the most original and coherent authors of Latin American literature” (according to Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa), Julio Cortázar (1914-1984), an homage is paid to him with readings in the city of Buenos Aires, walks through the places he visited, screenings of films inspired by his work, audiobooks and publications to look for in Buenos Aires bookstores.

Realistic, experimental, fantastic, playful and loved by young readers of all ages, Cortázar transcended the literary sphere with cronopios (moist and green beings) and famas, (CEOs, executives, politicians, etc) bestiaries, stories set in Buenos Aires and Paris, revolutionary passions, poems and contemporary fables. August 26 will mark 110 years of Cortázar.
