CEDRO requests urgent regulation of artificial intelligence to guarantee respect for copyright.

In a manifesto, authors and editors from the publishing sector recognize the importance of technological development, but express concern about the current lack of regulation, transparency, and neutrality of artificial intelligence.

In the text, they request that the regulation of artificial intelligence include ethical and transparency criteria and promote linguistic diversity.

Madrid, 10/16/2023. On Monday, September 16, CEDRO launched a manifesto in which it warns about the harmful effects of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) for, among others, the world of publishing, due to the current lack of regulation and the inappropriate use of the same.

The writer and academic Carme Riera, who chairs the Entity of Authors and Publishers of Books, Newspapers, Magazines, and Scores, assured that "we are very concerned because the IAG platforms are using our works massively to train their computer systems without our authorization.”
