Argentine Alicia María Zorrilla enters the North American Academy of the Spanish Language.

She is the current president of the Argentine Academy of Letters; “I hope that this distinction will also allow me to bring both institutions together even closer,” she said.

A new reason for pride for the Argentine culture: the current president of the Argentine Academy of Letters (AAL), the linguist Alicia María Zorrilla (Buenos Aires, 1948), has been appointed corresponding member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE).

Zorrilla, known to the non-specialized public for her entertaining books on the uses and abuses of the Spanish language. “!¿Por las dudas...?!” and “Sueltos de lengua” (both in the Libros del Zorzal catalogue), she is a Spanish-American corresponding member of the Real Academia Española, RAE, (Royal Spanish Academy) corresponding academic for the Chilean Academy of Language. “Corresponding members” are those members who do not reside in the city where the academy they belong to is located and who communicate with it “by correspondence”, that is, remotely.
