For the first time Spain will participate in the San Diego Comic-Con 2023

The Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading, participates for the first time in San Diego Comic-Con 2023, one of the most established and specialized comic fairs in the industry.

The event, which will last four days, begins on July 20 in the US city of San Diego. The objective of the institutional presence of Spain in this convention is to make visible and highlight the comics industry. To this end, two professional panels have been designed in which national authors with special relevance in the sector and, specifically, in the North American market, take part.

Aneke, Laura Pérez and Paco Sordo (National Comic Award 2022) will talk about the history, richness, diversity and presence of Spanish comics in the US industry, moderated by Marta Agüero. For their part, Belén Ortega, Pepe Larraz and Álvaro Martínez Bueno (Eisner Award 2022 and nominated again this year in two categories) will talk about their career, their achievements and their personal experience in one of the largest comic book markets in the world, that of the United States, in a conversation that will be moderated by Esther Claudio.

In addition, the General Directorate for Books, Comics and Reading will have a stand offering information on the activities carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, including aid to promote translation into foreign languages.
