Luz Gabás wins the 2022 Planeta Prize for her work “Lejos de Luisana”

The 2022 Planeta Novel Prize has broken a participation record, as 846 novels from all over the world have been submitted.

The award granted by Grupo Planeta has gone to the novel “Lejos de Luisana” by Luz Gabás, who stated that she feels "honored, grateful and happy, it is a dream come true.”  The work “Historias de mujeres casadas,” by Cristina Campos, has been the finalist for the 2022 Planeta Prize.

Luz Gabás assured when collecting the award that she began to write the novel during the pandemic and at a challenging time in her life. "Lejos de Louisiana,” is a historical novel, an unbreakable love story during a time of change; a story of love, friendship and tradition. Also of suffering and hope, and of tensions amid passions. Life is like a river that sometimes flows gently and sometimes overflows,» this is how the winner of the 2022 Planeta Prize described what she wants to convey with her novel.
