Luisgé Martín is the new director of the Instituto Cervantes in Los Angeles

The writer Luis García Martín, better known as Luisgé Martín, has been chosen as the new director of the Instituto Cervantes in Los Angeles by the former director, Luis García Montero.

Nominated by the Secretary General, Carmen Noguero, and with the agreement of the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and President of the Board of Directors, Pilar Cancela, and after confirmation from the Board of Directors.

Luis García Martín (Madrid, 1962), better known as Luisgé Martín, has a degree in Hispanic Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Instituto de Empresa.  He has experience in the cabinet of the Minister of Culture, Ángeles González -Sinde (2010-2011) and the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez (2019-2022). His career has been linked mainly to the publishing sector.  He has worked at the SM publishing house, at Ediciones del Prado and at the Thinking Heads Group, of which he directed his literary agency.
