Nuria Rico, researcher for the University of Granada, awarded for her study on bilingualism and equity.

The professor of the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Granada (UGR), Nuria Rico Castro, together with researchers from the Pablo Olavide University (UPO), has been distinguished with the award for the best research article of the year by the American Association of Applied Linguistics (AAAL).

The award-winning work is titled "Equity in Bilingual Education: Socioeconomic Status and Content and Language Integrated Learning in Monolingual Southern Europe," which has been published in the Applied Linguistics Magazine, University of Oxford. The authors are Francisco Lorenzo and Adrián Granados (UPO) and Professor Nuria Rico (UGR).

The AAAL award for best research article is awarded annually to authors for an article that is recognized by leaders in the field as being of exceptional quality and having the greatest potential impact on advancing knowledge in applied linguistics. All articles published in indexed journals of this subject are candidates for the award, which is nominated by a committee of publishers of scientific journals.
