Nacho Moreno, creator of the comic 'Goomer,’ dies

Ignacio Moreno Cuñat, who together with Ricardo Martínez created the character of the space truck driver, was also known for giving life to the character of Falsarius Chef.

The cartoonist, comic book scriptwriter, and cookbook writer Ignacio Moreno Cuñat, known by his industry name as Nacho, died last Monday in Cádiz, at the age of 65 due to a sudden illness. In 1988, together with the cartoonist Ricardo Martínez, he created the famous comic series Goomer, which narrates the adventures of an expatriate terrestrial who lives as a space truck driver on a distant planet inhabited by an intelligent civilization and who represents the rogue working-class Spaniard, with low academic level and a lot of nerve.

Nacho Moreno, born in Vitoria in 1957, met Ricardo Martínez during their childhood years and since then have shared drawings and history. Goomer is the fruit of that youthful passion, and on April 10, 1988, they published the first cartoon of this character in number 332 of El Pequeño País (supplement of El País), where he continued to write adventures until number 443, published in May of 1990.
