The new novel by Zafón to be translated into 40 languages in 50 countries

“The new novel by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, El Laberinto de los Espíritus (The Labyrinth of the Spirits), which is to go on sale in Spain on 17 November with an initial print run of 700,000 copies, will be translated into 40 languages across 50 different countries.

The novel, a new instalment in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books saga, was a ‘phenomenon’ at the Frankfurt Book Fair according to the Antonia Kerrigan agency, who represent the author: “the enormous sense of expectation that has built up around the novel meant that major contracts were signed before Frankfurt in countries such as Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, France, Russia, Poland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Slovenia and Israel.

According to Planeta, following the publication in Spain on November 17th in Spanish and Catalan, on November 25th will be published in Latin America, as well as in Portugal, all of them in Grupo Planeta, and it will be followed by the Italian edition (Mondadori) and in 2017 by the German edition (Fischer) and the rest of the world.

In addition to these deals, ‘advanced negotiations are taking place’ for China, Japan, Brazil, Australia, Denmark, Romania, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Taiwan and Albania.”
