Liber promotes the internationalization of the Spanish book

Amazon will be attending the publishing trade fair for the first time.

“After trying out a hybrid model between a professional and public fair with events for both the trade and the general public at its last edition in Barcelona, this year Liber, the International Book Fair, which is to be held from 12 to 14 October in Barcelona will return to its original format as an exclusively trade-based event so as to address new business models and promote the internationalization of the Spanish book.

This is hardly surprising given that according to the executive director of the Federation of Spanish Publishers, Antonio María Ávila, “a third of Spanish book exports tend to occur at Liber”. That is why for the 34th edition the organization has invited 500 decision makers from 60 countries and has placed special emphasis on the presence of major international buyers, including twenty American libraries. (…)

In addition to honouring the editor Beatriz de Moura and the writer Juan Marsé, Liber will be promoting digital expansion and Amazon will be attending for the first time.”
