Salamanca will host its first fantasy literature festival

As the reading public in our country becomes increasingly segmented, the fantasy genre is fast gaining in popularity. September 30 to October 2, 2016

In acknowledgement of this trend, the city of Salamanca will host, from September 30 to October 2, the Niebla Festival for Fantasy Literature organized jointly by the City of Salamanca Foundation for Culture and Knowledge and the Association of Anonymous Authors of Salamanca.

Salamanca is considered to be one of the most important cultural centers in Spain, a fact which the City of Salamanca Foundation for Culture and Knowledge has actively promoted in the past few years, with programs such as the currently in progress Plazas and Patios, which holds theatrical, musical, and literary events in the city during the summer months. This is to be followed by a new event called Niebla, the first festival of fantasy literature in Salamanca “conceived with a view for the long term and for becoming an important event on a national scale,” as Julio López, the City Councilor for Culture, recently explained.

The festival, whose program will be announced in the next few weeks, will include not only roundtables, encounters, and lectures relevant to the genre, but also other activities such as storytelling, cosplay days, and microtheater and literary workshops.
