The publishing industry made €2.257 billion last year, following the recovering thread initiated in 2014 after five consecutive years of losses.

The publishing sector grew in a 2.8% during the year 2015, until hitting a €2.257 billion turnover, a figure propelled by textbook and novel sales that allows for a “certain optimism,’ though it is still far from 2008 figures, when their turnover reached a record 30.8 %. "The recovery of sorts of the year 2014 has turned into an actual recovery, albeit it is still tinged by certain worries,” stated the president of the Federation of Editor Guilds of Spain and the Association of Book Boards of Spain, Daniel Fernández, during his presentation of the analysis of the Book Market in Spain 2015.

The novel was one of the factors that drove the turnover climb in 2015, with a growth of 8.8%, something that has “also taken place in other European countries” and evidences a “return” to leisure reading on paper.
