Richard Ford wins the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature

The American writer has won the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature 2016: Richard Ford (Jackson, Mississippi, 1944).

One of America’s writers who best portrayed the emotional and social turmoil of its fellow citizens in recent decades, has won the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature 2016: Richard Ford (Jackson, Mississippi, 1944). A writer who, according to the jury, has created the "mosaic of mixed stories that is the American society." Writings, adds the jury, where "the attention to detail in the descriptions, the dark and dense look at the daily life of anonymous and invisible beings, combine the desolation and excitement of his stories."
