Spaniards Booktubers, YouTube intellectuals resurrecting literature

They are young, incisive and they come stomping the ground. Their weapons: a camera, stacks of books and ... YouTube. Publishers have already noticed them and exploit the mother load to reach a sector of the public that still resists them.

There are many who, with the advent of internet, had already assumed literature was dead. But maybe it was just asleep. And to wake it the booktubers have emerged, young people who share their passion for reading on YouTube, and reinvent it with wit and sparkle. They love paper but they surf online, in the transmedia. They usually broadcast contents of literature or fantasy for young adults, but do not deny the classics, which in many cases, made them take the bait for literature. They are not critical, nor intend to be; they are amateurs but they are winning millions of young readers and at the same time demystifying these topics, of which youngsters would not open a copy unless it is required reading.
