Carla Montero presents the novel "Winter in your face" at the Madrid Book Fair

The successful writer tells a love story with the Civil War and World War II as a backdrop.
Writer Carla Montero presents her new book "Winter in your face" (Plaza & Janes), released just a day before the inauguration of the Madrid Book Fair.

The successful author tells the story of her ancestors, involved in both sides of the Civil War and World War II. According to David Trias of Plaza & Janes, the novel is one of the big winners at the fair. It is the fourth novel by a writer who had a great success with "Emerald Table", and is making her return to the limelight with a story that has taken her years to document, a story which she explains during its presentation is "a universal theme".

"It's another story of World War II," said Montero, "and there will be more because we failed to understand the barbarity society reached in the first 50 years of the twentieth century." Precisely because of her failure to understand, the author delved into the history of her family, not comprehending why some of her ancestors did what they did.  "It's the story of my family, but it represents people from a generation with which to empathize is difficult,” she said.
