The writer wins the award given to the best new and emerging writers from all across Europe, for his novel La tierra que pisamos (The Earth We Tread, Seix Barral). “The announcement of the winners of the 2016 European Union Prize for Literature marks the beginning of celebrations recognizing the literary talent of new writers from all across Europe,” said Nick Yapp, the President of the European Writers Council during the announcement of the 12 winners of the EU Prize for Literature, an award honouring the best new and emerging writers from the old continent. (…) The Spanish representative in the group was Jesús Carrasco (Olivenza, Badajoz, 1972), who was chosen for his novel La tierra que pisamos (The Earth We Tread, Seix Barral), his second book following Intemperie (Wilderness, 2013) which was translated into fifteen languages and has sold 82,000 copies in Spain, making him one of the stars of the contemporary literary scene.
