Piglia wins the Ciutat de Barcelona

With his book 'Los diarios de Emilio Renzi. Años de formación' (The Diaries of Emilio Renzi. A Bildungsroman), the Argentinean writer won the award in the Spanish language category.

Argentinean writer and literary critic Ricardo Piglia has been awarded the Ciutat de Barcelona Prize in the ‘Spanish Language Literature’ category for his latest book Los diarios de Emilio Renzi. Años de formación (The Diaries of Emilio Renzi. A Bildungsroman), published by Anagrama. The jury, composed of Jordi Gracia, Juan Antonio Masoliver Ródenas, Teresa López-Pellisa, Lolita Bosch, and Xavier Ayén, chose him "for having created, under the guise of autobiography, a fictional character in the heterodox tradition of Robert Artl, fusing several different genres and uniting them into a whole without distorting their individual essence, and furthermore creating a truly panoramic work brimming with all the qualities that he has brought us throughout his career.”
