Report from the Cervantes Institute states that between years 2000 and 2013, Spanish language has grown 1,100% on social networks. Sadly, this also carries constant misuse of spelling, grammar, etc.

Close to 470 million persons speak Spanish and 21 million persons study it as a foreign language. This is the third most used language across the Internet and second most popular on Facebook or Twitter. 

Victor Garcia de la Concha, head of the Cervantes Institute, has warned that Spanish is decaying among social network users which is a fact that reflects a lack of reading habits, poor education and other deficiencies. 

However, it is exciting to hear that more people communicate in Spanish globally.
