Holland, Michigan Public schools begin enrolling students in new Spanish immersion classes.

Holland, MI Public Schools are now enrolling kindergarten students for their new two-way Spanish bilingual immersion (TWBI) K-7 school for the fall of 2016. The TWBI program has been growing at the district’s West K-7 school, and has been adding grade levels and sections throughout the years.

This fall, the program will move to the Van Raalte school building at the corner of Van Raalte Avenue and 20th Street in Holland and transition to a new, standalone school led by Iliana Vasquez-Ochoa as the principal. Vasquez-Ochoa is currently the assistant principal at West K-7, located at 500 W. 24th St. in Holland.

“We’re taking enrollments (for TWBI) right now and doing it here at our building at West,” said West K-7 parent liaison Candis DeBoer. “Stop in any time Monday through Friday during school hours, 8 to 3, and we will get them enrollment packet and any information we can help them with.”

Kindergarten enrollment packets can be obtained at the West K-7 office, and must be turned in by March 7.

Should too many students apply, there will be a lottery for a seat at the school March 21.
