The highest award in Spanish literature recognizes the work of narrator and essayist Fernando del Paso. The award, which consists of a 125,000 Euros prize, will be given to the writer during a ceremony on April of 2016.

The winner of the XXX Cervantes Literary Award this year goes to Mexican writer Fernando del Paso, "for his contributions to the evolution of the novel by combining tradition and modernity, just as Cervantes did in his time. His novels, full of risks, resemble key episodes of Mexican history, making them essential". 

Del Paso is the author of iconic works such as "News of the Empire" and "Palinuro of Mexico".
