Spanish author Enrique Vila-Matas, recognized by Guadalajara, Mexico’s International Book Fair FIL for his “significant contributions to contemporary literature”.

The author will be honored with this literary award on November 28 during Guadalajara’s International Book Fair’s grand opening.

Mexico is the first country to recognize Vila-Matas’ contribution to literature, followed by other Latin American countries. The author had previously been honored with the prestigious Romulo Gallegos literary award for his novel “El viaje vertical” (The vertical voyage).

Many newspapers around the world, including The New York Times, The Guardian and The Wall, have published very favorable reviews about Vila-Matas’ works, especially in reference to his latest book “Kassel no invita a la lógica” (Kassel does not inspire logic). The Guardian named him as one of the five top contemporary Spanish-language writers.
