Waltham Schools (Massachusetts) Welcome New Bilingual Principal.

According to an announcement sent out by the Waltham Public Schools, Herzog is a “dynamic bilingual leader who has a strong record working and leading in urban Spanish-speaking communities.”

Emma Herzog takes on the position to start off the 2015 school year.

Herzog served as Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at the Leahy Elementary School in Lawrence and Principal Intern at the Hurley Two-Way Dual Language Immersion School in Boston. She has also worked as a bilingual teacher, bilingual lead teacher, mentor, and coach in San Antonio, Texas.

 

Herzog attended Cornell University and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. While at Cornell, she spent a year living in Spain, where she attended La Universidad de Sevilla, said the release.

 

“Emma is passionate about two-way dual language immersion programs and their benefits for both Spanish Language Learners and English Language Learners,” said the announcement. “She is well-versed on best practices for language learners and their families and has worked and led in a late-exit immersion school, a two-way dual language immersion school, and an Extended Learning Time school. Emma is committed to ensuring that all students receive an excellent, equitable education and to uniting school and community. Emma is originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is now happy to call Somerville home.”
