First edition of Garcia Marquez’s “One Hundred Years of Solitude” stolen from the Colombian International Book Fair.

The book was part of a first 8,000-copies run 48 years ago by Editorial Sudamericana.

Local bookseller Alvaro Castillo had loaned the book for a special exhibit at the International Book Fair dedicated to Macondo, the setting of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ masterpiece. Local authorities have launched an investigation on this atypical case.
