Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) partnerships with the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Land Management to offer internships

A partnership with the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will offer internships nationwide, as part of the HACU’s National Internship Program (HNIP). Summer projects are available with the Bureau’s Direct Hiring Authority Resource Assistant Internship Program (DHA-RAIP).

  • College students studying in the fields of geographical information systems, natural resource sciences, petroleum engineering, and communications are encouraged to apply.
  • BLM will host project-based internships for a minimum of 11-weeks.
  • Interns will receive a bi-weekly stipend and round-trip travel.
  • College Students can apply online.

BLM’s direct hire authority enables the agency to appoint an individual to a career conditional position after completion of their internship assignment and degree requirements.

The new partnership will provide more than 20 new internships across the country in proximity to many HACU-member institutions, including Las Cruces and Santa Fe, NM, and Sacramento, Calif. The internships provide an opportunity to bring a talented and diverse pool of interns to support the Bureau’s mission and goals.

the first time, the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago will participate in this initiative with different activities from noon to 9 pm: Don Quixote live reading, exhibitions, painting and culinary workshops, storytelling, films and more. Adults who are the children of immigrant parents are most likely to be bilingual.
