Withers Elementary School ISD bilingual teacher Irma De La Guardia has been named teacher of the year by the National Association for Bilingual Education.

“Dual language programs have grown at a fast pace across the nation, especially in Texas. There are now an estimated 2,500 schools with the program across the nation, said Leo Gomez, a dual language expert with Dual Language Training Institute, an Edinburg-based company.”
