Spanish publishers seek help from their government

The ecosystem of the book world in Spain is at risk, and with it the future of the principal cultural industry of the country. In an attempt to change that fate, the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain (FGEE) and other industry groups (booksellers, distributors and graphic industry) are proposing to the government an Integral Development of the Book and Reading plan.

"We don't want a cosmetic plan, but an integral one. We do not want just a television campaign that says 'Reading is healthy for the brain'. It must be something more serious, permanent,” says Daniel Fernández, new president of the FGEE, in an interview with El País.
