Guadalajara International Book Fair starts Saturday

Authors, literary agents, librarians, booksellers and hundreds of publishing houses will join thousands of visitors at the biggest showcase books in Spanish, November 29 – December 7. This year, the fair will offer new events, including the first annual scientific outreach program, the FIL is Science Too, and the International Graphic Novel Forum. Argentina is the guest of honor.

The FIL Guadalajara will pay tribute to some of the most important figures of literature in Spanish who have passed away or whose anniversaries are celebrated this 2014, including the hundred year anniversaries of Octavio Paz, Cortázar (anniversary that coincides with the 20th year of the Chair of Latin American Studies Julio Cortázar at the UDG), Efraín Huerta, José Revueltas and Adolfo Bioy Casares. Tributes will also be paid to Gabriel García Márquez, Juan Gelman, José Emilio Pacheco, Federico Campbell, Emmanuel Carballo and Ernesto Flores, as well as a dialog between the previous co-winners of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize.
