Odilo to provide digital computing platform for Michigan libraries

The Spanish company will provide a computing platform to access digital contents such as ebooks, audiobooks, music, television series, and movies, for the public library network of the state of Michigan.

The Michigan Library Network (TLN), a cooperative of public libraries that comprises 65 libraries across Michigan, has signed a three-year agreement with Odilo to use the latter’s proprietary software. The project will be initially launched at 30 member libraries with plans to progressively expand the service to the other members.

The platform seeks to diversify and strengthen the availability of digital content for member library users. Agreements have already been signed with the leading publishers in the U.S., as well as with smaller publishing houses, independents and local author, integrating all existing content providers into the system. This association ensures that the TLN member libraries will continue being at the forefront in the provision of digital content to their users.

“All the libraries which form part of TLN are very excited to start working with Odilo,” said Jim Pletz, Executive Director of the Michigan Library Network. “Thanks to Odilo’s computing platform, we are poised to offer our users quality content that is more adaptable to their needs.”

The Michigan Library Network will join Odilo’s great family of clients with over 1,000 systems on board in Europe, the U.S. and Latin America. Among the projects awarded to Odilo recently are the creation of the first open computing platform at the state level in the U.S. implemented with libraries in Colorado and the specialized network for the lending of digital content carried out with the member libraries of the American Association of Religious Libraries.

“At Odilo we have made a firm commitment to working with library associations of every type all over the world. We want to offer them solutions that are flexible and intuitive and still maintain all the necessary functionalities. Furthermore, we tailor our solutions to each library’s budgetary requirements, regardless of size,” asserted Rodrigo Rodriguez, CEO of Odilo.
