Instituto Cervantes to open doors in San Antonio area

By the end of the year two certified instructors from Spain are expected to arrive in San Antonio to begin developing a Spanish-language program for students at Texas A&M University-San Antonio and the general public. That will mark the beginning in the Alamo City of the Instituto Cervantes, a world-famous institution created by the Spanish government to teach and promote the Spanish language and culture across the globe.

The partnership means that the university will be a DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) examination center, university officials said. “We are very excited about this affiliation and it's a wonderful beginning,” said Maria Hernandez Ferrier, Ph.D., inaugural president of A&M's San Antonio campus.
