The south Florida county would use a higher library tax to expand its hours of operation and to expand up to three times its budget to acquire children's books, according to a proposal from county mayor Carlos Giménez.
“With about $8 million more to spend than what Giménez proposed in the original budget for libraries, Miami-Dade could add an extra day of operations for 12 of the 49 branches of the county libraries, including the return of service seven days a week for the top five.”
