Librarians face the challenge of finding Spanish-language materials that will appeal to all users

The Hispanic population in the United States may share the same language but are in fact culturally diverse. This article published by Library Journal points out that publishing and reading preferences are different among Latin Americans, who should not be taken as “one homogeneous block”, and offers some tips to get the right tittles for Spanish-Sspeaking library users.

“Spanish, with more than 37 million speakers, is the top non-english language spoken at home in the United States, according to a 2011 U.S. Census Bureau report. Since it is also the fastest-growing spoken language, librarians face the challenge of finding Spanish-language materials that will appeal to populations who may share the same language but are in fact quite culturally diverse.”
