BookExpo America (BEA) is organized with the support of association partners including the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and the American Booksellers Association (ABA). This year's edition has some innovations, such as publishing technology startups making their pitches to leaders in Venture Capital, Technology, and Publishing organizations at the convention.

For the first time ever, there will be a Startup Alley at BEA, bringing together the best of Silicon Alley and the book publishing industry on Thursday, May 29th, 2014. Startups will compete to appear before the judges that will decide prize winners and potential investment candidates on the spot. The first prize of  $10,000, is sponsored by ICG Ventures Inc., an Ingram Content Group company. The second prize, $5,000, is sponsored by Sourcebooks.

This year BEA is also expanding its efforts to focus on independent and self-published authors by introducing the brand new Author Hub. The innovative program will run in tandem with uPublishU at BEA, the established and industry-leading conference for all authors who are looking to take charge of their publishing projects.

The trade show will have Three Separate Buzz Panels for Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade Titles. The Buzz panel presentations, which feature book editors discussing the individual selections, supplemented with an Author Stage appearance for the chosen authors. See BEA Editors' Buzz Forums and book selections here.

BEA is a trade event for all publishing and book industry professionals but will be open to the public on the last day Saturday, May 31st, 2014.
