OdiloTID joins the U.S. library network

The company has won the public sector contract to create the first state-level loan network in Colorado, where its technology will be used to provide services for electronic books, audio, and video.

OdiloTID has been selected by the Consortium of Public Libraries of the State of Colorado (United States) to provide the loan service for electronic books, audio, and video in the state library network.

This way, the residents of Colorado will have access both to free content and content under copyright, and will be able to use any device to read it from anywhere in the state.

Two key factors were responsible for the selection of this Spanish firm for the project. One was OdiloTID's cloud technology and the other was that it offered a solution independent of the publishing sector.

This project will provide the first open network at state level in the United States, where, according to the American Library Association, more than 90% of the country's libraries plan to offer loans of e-books during the coming year. Loans of digital materials are expected to exceed the three million mark in the first months of operation.

Business Successes

In 2012, OdiloTID was awarded the tender offer to automate the public library network launched by the Office of Libraries, Archives and Museums (DIBAM) in Chile, which covers more than 400 libraries. The bid for services required the implementation and maintenance of a platform for the digital public library destined to be used by the National System of Public Libaries.

In 2013, the Thomson Reuters Group and the Spanish firm OdiloTID reached a global cooperation agreement whereby the e-books under the Thomson Reuters imprints Aranzadi, Civitas, and Lex Nova will reach the library loan world already integrated with OdiloTID's products.

OdiloTID, founded in Spain in 2011, already works with more than a thousand institutions in the public and private sectors in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. OdiloTID was created to offer solutions for library management, loaning of digital content, and documentary management. The company's headquarters are in Spain, and it has opened offices in Mexico and most recently in Miami.
