The man that put Latino literature on the map

Thanks to Dr. Nicolás Kanellos' love for U.S. Hispanic literature, hundreds of award-winning books like Sandra Cisneros’ “The House on Mango Street” and “Rain of Gold” by Victor Villaseñor were published.

The Hispanic studies professor at the University of Houston since 1980, established Arte Público Press in 1979 — the oldest and largest non-profit Hispanic publisher in the U.S. Read the complete story here.
