Book Cycle organizers say demand is rising for Spanish books

This program that allows kids to take home books and trade later, started in 2003 and offers books in English and Spanish. When Book Cycle kicked off this school year in September, the demand for Spanish books was higher, says organizer and volunteer Colleen Reader.

“Funded through donations and grants — such as a $2,000 grant from Tipmont REMC in July — Book Cycle allows kids to take home two books and then trade them whenever they want a new one. In September, the program gave out 1,200 books, Reader said. She said many of the kids don’t have books at home, so just having a few can make a difference.”. Read more here.
