Minnesota school program benefits Spanish and English speakers

Four years ago, the Northfield School District in Minnesota, made the first significant changes to the Compañeros language immersion program since its inception in 1993. Now, as teachers grow accustomed to the new program and its young pioneers enter 4th grade, it’s clear that the change was a good one, according to those involved, Northfield News reports.

“As a result of extensive research conducted in 2005, the district decided to add 50 minutes of Spanish language arts instruction in an attempt to better accommodate an increasing number of native Spanish-speaking students in the program.”. Read the complete story here.
