Please RSVP at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/455594 Since Félix de la Concha came to the United States 18 years ago, each place he has lived has brought new perspectives to his work. De la Concha is best known to the American public through his polyptychs, painted "en plein air", including One Season from Each Corner (Columbus Museum of Art), 365 Views of the Cathedral of Learning (Carnegie Museum of Art/University of Pittsburgh) and Fallingwater en Perspectiva (touring exhibition). Félix has being working in Iowa City for the past four years. He explores a new vision through an examination of temporal and spatial dynamics. This exhibit will run until November 1st. Pintor de exteriores y “en plein air”, se da a conocer al público americano con sus polípticos: One Season from Each Corner (ahora en el Columbus Museum of Art). En ella recrea a través de cuatro panorámicas el cambio brusco de estaciones del Medio Oeste. Su serie 365 Views of the Cathedral of Learning (Carnegie Museum of Art) refleja el día a día de un año en la ciudad Pittsburgh. Después de vivir cinco años en el montañoso entorno de Nueva Inglaterra se traslada a Iowa y se enfrenta a sus llanuras. Aquí explora otras arquitecturas y un motivo como la granja, tan arquetípico de esta zona, pero dándole un nuevo acercamiento a través de una disciplina temporal y espacial. Ohio st 312-335-1996 The internationally acclaimed Mexican writers Margo Glantz, Elena Poniatowska, Cristina Rivera Garza and Sabina Berman will all be featured in the premiere of this annual series in 2013. The bilingual panel discussions will pair each Mexican writer with a local Chicago scholar or journalist to explore the social, political and philosophical themes raised in their books.  They will also investigate how Mexican and American literature, history and culture differ, inform and influence one another.
