Miami Book Fair International to celebrate Spain's contributions to the U.S.

As a recognition to its historical, cultural, social and economic contributions to our country, Spain will be an integral part of the Fair in its 30th anniversary, thanks to the join efforts of the Miami Book Fair International and the Consulate of Spain in Miami.

On this 500th Anniversary of the arrival of Ponce the Leon in Florida, the Miami Book Fair International has joined forces with the Consulate of Spain in Miami to celebrate Spain’s historical, cultural, social and economic contributions to our country. This year is our 30th anniversary and Spain will be an integral part of the Fair's many diverse and thought-provoking programs.

By creating a true cultural experience, the 30th edition of the Miami Book Fair International will transport us to Garcia Lorca’s nights of literature and poetry with his niece Laura Garcia Lorca and a delegation of 20 authors. Audiences will also have the opportunity to sample the tastes of Spain with two gastronomic demonstrations with distinguished chefs. The sounds and dance of Spain will came alive at our tablados. The cinema from Spain will also be represented through several screenings throughout the week.

We could not be happier to be part of this milestone year for the Miami Book Fair International,” said Cristina Barrios, Spanish Consul General in Miami. “We feel that it provides the perfect opportunity for audiences to experience Spain’s culture in a fun, comprehensive way and learn about the country’s contributions to the U.S. and the world.”

The culture of Spain will be showcased during the 8 days of the fair. Fairgoers will enjoy more than 200 exhibitors from around the country selling books in a festive atmosphere and hundreds of author reading and discussing new books during the weekend Street Fair.
